According to this recent article by the Telegraph, the Galaxy S3 is already the most popular phone of the year. And it’s not even released yet.
Samsung won’t release any official figures regarding the number of pre-orders, but at this point it confirmed that “thousands” of customers have preordered the new flagship smartphone. Graham Stapleton, Chief Commercial Officer at Carphone Warehouse, claims the Galaxy S3 is the most popular phone they’ve ever sold.
Pre-order demand for the new Galaxy S3 has surpassed expectations since the handset was first unveiled two weeks ago. The first 24 hours alone saw thousands placing their pre-order at Carphone Warehouse.
The Galaxy S3 is without a doubt the fastest selling pre-order of 2012 so far.
And according to the Korea Economic Daily, Samsung’s factory is producing five million Galaxy S3 devices every month. It’s already operating at full capacity – and will have to, at this rate.
Most estimates indicate Apple’s iPhone 4S received about 4 million pre-orders when it was launched late last year. To date, that was the biggest batch of pre-orders the world had seen for any smartphone. But now the Galaxy S3 looks to smash that record, with over 9 million units pre-ordered to date – and more coming. Samsung’s flagship phone could even pass the 10 million devices mark before it starts shipping to customers in the next few weeks.
