The Galaxy S3 has been launched today, on many different carriers around the world. One of the first places to get Samsung’s new smartphone will be down under, in Australia. Virgin Mobile have just the phone live on their website – available for $5 per month on a $59 plan.
Check out Virgin’s website for more info on the plan & pricing of the Samsung Galaxy S III in Australia. For now they’ve only got the 16GB White version available, but more variations should be coming in the near future.
If you order now, you should be able to get the 16GB White version within a couple of days. For the 16GB Pebble Blue version, you’ll be waiting until late June.
Samsung won’t release any official figures regarding the number of pre-orders, but at this point it confirmed that “thousands” of customers have preordered the new flagship smartphone. Graham Stapleton, Chief Commercial Officer at Carphone Warehouse, claims the Galaxy S3 is the most popular phone they’ve ever sold.
Pre-order demand for the new Galaxy S3 has surpassed expectations since the handset was first unveiled two weeks ago. The first 24 hours alone saw thousands placing their pre-order at Carphone Warehouse.
The Galaxy S3 is without a doubt the fastest selling pre-order of 2012 so far.
You know Siri, Apple’s revolutionary personal secretary application for the iPhone 4S? Well Samsung has developed a similar technology for the Galaxy S III. It’s called S-Voice, and allows you to control all aspects of your Android phone using voice recognition.
The folks over at xdadevelopers have managed to uncover a yet-unreleased APK for the S-Voice app. It works on ICS (Android 4.x) phones, not just the Galaxy S III. So if you can’t wait to get hold of the next Galaxy smartphone, or even if you just want to show off to your Apple-loving friends, grab the APK and install on your phone now! Go on… you know you want to.
Amazon is well known for putting smartphones on sale several weeks before their release, and ships confirmed orders quite promptly. So if you’re in the market for a Galaxy S3, check out the link below to get your hands on one today!
We’ve already told you what The Verge thinks of Samsung’s latest smartphone. Now let’s take a look at what TechRadar has to say.
Right from the start of their review, Tech Radar are critical about the plastic design.
The plastic feeling of the Galaxy S3 won’t appeal to all. It feels very lightweight (despite tipping the scales at 133g) in the hand, and some people will read this as feeling a little cheap.
It’s a similar opinion to what The Verge offered, and we can see that this will be a common theme amongst Galaxy S3 reviews. But all is not lost! Tech Radar did have some kinder words to say about the physical aspects of this device.
But in the hand, the Samsung Galaxy S3 feels superb. The design contours well against the palm, and while the screen size may be a little big for some (you’ll need a bit of shuffling to reach the upper section of the screen) it’s definitely useable in the hand.
Based on sales figures for the Galaxy S2, we’d hazard a guess that there is definitely a market for large screen smartphones. Continue reading →
Samsung has been quick to promote their Galaxy S3 smartphone. And not just with promotional material – they’ve actually been getting the phone in the hands of real people. This is a vast improvement on the launch of the Galaxy S2, where we were waiting for months before we could get a reliable hands-on of the finished product.
One of the finest review sites out there – The Verge – has published a detailed hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy S III. It’s well worth checking out if you’re in the market for this smartphone.
Do you remember the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S2 in the USA? It was significantly delayed compared to the European release, and even when it reached the USA we got a very confused marketing message. This time, it looks like Samsung’s stepped up their game and will be making a good effort to get the Galaxy S3 smartphone available on all the major US carries within a very short space of time.
